Registered Nurse Transition to Practice Programs at Sentara
Sentara RMH Medical center now has transition programs for new graduate nurses and experienced nurses moving into this new specialty. This 12-week TTP program focuses on the orientation transition experience with intentional knowledge support and skill acquisition for practice in Critical Care. For new graduates, this TTP program is the start of a comprehensive 6-month residency program to support your transition to practice.
- Formal delivery of fundamental critical care nursing concepts and standards via foundational ECCO (Essentials of Critical Care Orientation from the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN)) modules blended with in-person sessions utilizing case studies, gaming, simulation, and skills labs
- Exposure to Sentara policies and evidence-based practice guidelines as recommended by the AACN
- Hands-on experience in the intensive care unit alongside a trained nurse preceptor
- Opportunity to share your experiences/networking with peers in a safe, protected environment
- A series of virtual professional development sessions with mentoring (optional for experienced nurses
