Sentara Health is currently seeking a Credentials Associate for our Sentara Hospitals. This is a Remote position.
Hours/Shift: Full-Time, Day Shift (Remote Day Shift hours are typically between the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
Conducts data gathering, verification and analysis of practitioner applications and credentials for medical staff and affiliate appointment and privileges through both the Initial and Reappointment Application process. Responsible for maintaining all credentials files either in paper or electronic format, and maintains data in system-wide database.
Associates degree preferred. A minimum of 3 years of Medical Staff Office or Credentialing Office experience required in a hospital, health plan or CVO environment. CPCS – Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist preferred. Proficiencies in Echo database management preferred.
Under the supervision of a Credentialing Supervisor/Manager, the Credentialing Specialist II is responsible for specific aspects of Credentialing and Re-credentialing processing for a managed care organization, adhering to the National Committee for Quality Assurance, State and Federal regulations. They review, investigate, and process primary source verifications for facility, ancillary, medical and behavioral providers in a timely, efficient manner.
CPCS – Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (Preferred)
Requires thorough knowledge of managed care provider credentialing/re-credentialing principles, methods, regulations, and procedures normally acquired through a minimum of 2 years of directly related experience. Acceptable areas demonstrating experience would be direct work experience with organizations such as a CVO, MCO, HMO or Hospital Based Credentialing (MSO).

- Associate's Level Degree (Preferred)
Certification/Licensure
- Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) – Certification (Preferred)
Experience
- 2 years Related Experience (Required)
