The Vice President of Health Information and Coding is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the strategic direction, management, and integration of health information systems and coding operations across the organization. This position ensures the accurate and efficient coding of clinical data, compliance with regulatory standards, and the seamless flow of health information to support clinical, financial, and operational objectives. The VP collaborates with various departments to optimize coding processes, improve data quality, and maintain compliance with healthcare regulations. This position is located at the Sentara Park Corporate Campus in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
The Vice President Health Information Management and Coding will serve as a senior-level trusted advisor to executive leadership in aligning health information management and coding capabilities to the broader revenue cycle and organization strategic goals established by our hospitals and medical groups. The Vice President Health Information Management and Coding will identify and lead strategic and operational initiatives within the Revenue Cycle operations of our hospitals and medical groups and consult on information technology, performance improvement and analytics initiatives related to documentation improvement, coding opportunities to improve reimbursement, electronic medical record content, and data governance. Supporting the organization's strategic growth plan including a strong focus on revenue growth, top quartile clinical process improvement, and organizational compliance.
It is critical that the Vice President, Health Information Management and Coding develop strong relationships with senior leaders in Acute Care, Ambulatory Care, Health Plan, Performance Improvement, Analytics, and Information Technology to ensure initiatives, systems, processes, and best practices support business and service objectives. This will involve working closely with others in the Revenue Cycle function to build highly effective revenue cycle strategies and services. This position will work across the enterprise on coding opportunities, coordination and best practices. This includes care delivery and the health plan. Reporting to the VP, Corporate Revenue Cycle they represent an integral part of Finance leadership, while supporting Acute and Ambulatory Care through appropriate reimbursement, and quality data; Information Technology ensuring compliant and effective electronic medical record content, and Analytics to provide insights into claims data used in process improvement. The Vice President Health Information Management and Coding joins a dynamic team of over 1,900 Revenue Cycle professionals and has oversight of a team of over 480 HIM professionals providing coding, charging, clinical documentation integrity, document management, release of information, record content and completion, regulatory and statutory compliance.
