Sentara Medical Group has an employment position for an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join Sentara Cardiology Specialists in Norfolk, VA, a comprehensive electrophysiology team specializing in the diagnosis and state of the art treatment of heart rhythm disorders including catheter ablation (atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, SVT and PVC), pacemaker and defibrillator implantation and management (including leadless devices and subq ICDs), implantation and management of implanted loop recorders, lead extraction procedures and implantation of Watchman devices to reduce stroke risk in atrial fibrillation.
Position Highlights:
•Schedule of 2-3 Inpatient and 1-2 Outpatient days a week; 10 hour shifts
•Participation in inpatient evaluation of patients with cardiac rhythm problems in conjunction with the electrophysiologist; follow up of inpatients managed by the EP service and discharge after procedures.
•Outpatient follow up and management of patients with various rhythm problems including initiating and managing antiarrhythmic therapies, triage of patients with acute problems including office evaluation, initiating, and managing anticoagulation in conjunction with the Anticoagulation Clinic, providing education on lifestyle modification, and ordering sleep studies.
•Provision of pre and post procedure care and education for patients undergoing pacemaker or ICD implantation, ablation, Watchman implant, lead extraction, and cardioversion.
•Working closely with RN-managed device clinic providing troubleshooting and managing patients who have acute needs.
•Working closely with general cardiology staff managing patients with devices including using CHF data (cardiac compass, heart logic, corvue) to manage patients.
•Position includes general cardiology call expectations of 1:10 nights and 1:5 weekends.
