Overview
The Sentara Metabolic and Bariatric Care Center is looking for a dynamic Registered Dietitian to be an active member of our Interdisciplinary bariatric surgery team. This position will collaborate with two Bariatric Surgeons, PA/Bariatric Coordinator, Bariatric Medical Assistant, and Patient Navigator to meet the needs of patients both pre and post bariatric surgery.
If Bachelor’s degree is in major other than Dietetics, the candidate must complete an Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) accredited Didactic Program in Dietetics. If not registered at hire, must obtain within 9 months.
Candidates with a minimum of one year of experience working in weight loss or bariatric surgery are preferred
The successful candidate will collaborate and participate in quality improvement initiatives to provide safe, efficacious, and high-quality care to each patient at all times
Dietitian will facilitate support groups for bariatric surgery patients at least every two months (in person, web based, or teleconference) with proper documentation of meeting time, location, agenda, and attendance
Monitor Sentara Bariatric Facebook support group
Review bariatric supplement routine and nutritional labs
Participate as a Metabolic Surgery (MBS) Committee member for quarterly interdisciplinary meetings and small group quality team meetings

Responsibilities
Responsible for managing patient’s medical nutrition therapy in accordance with the medical staff approved clinical practice standards. Serves as a resource for nutrition education. If Bachelor’s Degree is in major other than Dietetics, must complete an Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) accredited Didactic Program in Dietetics. If not Reg Dietitian or RDN at hire, must obtain within 9 months. PACE specific incumbents for this position require a minimum of one year of experience working with the frail or elderly population. BLS required within 90 days of hire
