About SMJH’s Operating Room:
Performing an average of 7,000 cases each year, the Operating Room at Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital (Charlottesville, VA) has 8 OR suites and offers a variety of service lines including; Complex GYN, Neurosurgery, Vascular/Thoracic and Orthopedic surgery. It is also the 2nd highest-performing OR in the Sentara system for Orthopedic total joint procedures. A variety of shifts are offered, including; 8, 10 and 12 hours, as well as days, mid-shift and evenings. The department does have a call requirement, with variations depending on staffing and role. Career development is offered, encouraged, and supported. Scholarships are offered to all positions in the OR, with a focus on advancing knowledge, increasing flexibility within the department, and retaining skilled team members.
